"Travelers are advised that early on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, anti-government demonstrations occurred around the Hungarian Parliament and state TV headquarters in Budapest. The protests were inspired by public dissatisfaction with the government due to recently publicized statements revealing that the government has been lying to the public about the state of the nation's economy for the past several years. Some of the protesters became violent and clashed with police. Further protests in the coming days are possible, and GSD will continue to monitor the situation closely.

There is no change in the threat level for Hungary at this time. The areas around EM offices have been unaffected, and travel to and from the airport has not been affected by the demonstrations. However, travelers are advised to remain aware of their surroundings at all times and avoid any and all public demonstrations (which can arise with little warning)."
